WHAT IS STARSHIP?

Starship is SpaceX's fully reusable, two-stage launch system: the Super Heavy booster with 33 Raptor engines and the Starship upper stage with six. At about 121 metres the full stack is the tallest and most powerful rocket ever flown, designed to carry more than 100 tonnes to low Earth orbit and, eventually, crews to the Moon and Mars.

Test flights lift off from Starbase in Boca Chica, South Texas. SpaceX is also building Starship infrastructure at Kennedy Space Center's pad LC-39A in Florida. Before each flight, roads and the beach around Starbase are closed. Current closures appear on this page.
